FAQ
Questions families ask us most.
Straight answers about how the consultation works, how we price accessibility work, what we install, and where we work in Orange County. If your question isn't here, call (949) 573-3593.
Getting started
We visit your home, walk the spaces that matter — entry, hallways, stairs, bathroom — and talk with the person who actually lives there about what has become difficult. We measure clearances, check wall framing where grab bars or handrails would go, and leave you with a written plan and itemized price. There is no charge and no obligation to move forward.
Most consultations are scheduled within a few business days. If there's an urgent situation — a hospital discharge, a recent fall, a parent who can't safely use their shower tonight — tell us when you call and we'll do our best to move you up.
Yes, and we encourage it. Adult children often live elsewhere. We're glad to have a family member on speakerphone or video during the assessment, and we send the written plan to whoever needs to review it.
No. Many of our clients come to us directly. If you already have recommendations from an occupational or physical therapist, bring them — we'll build the scope around them. And if we think your situation needs a clinical evaluation before modifications, we'll say so.
Pricing & payment
It depends on the work. Smaller safety items — properly anchored grab bars, handrails, threshold ramps, lever handles, offset hinges — are priced per item plus installation. Larger projects like tub-to-shower conversions, curbless showers, doorway widening, and stair lifts are quoted as a project scope after the in-home assessment. We give you a firm written number before any work begins.
Because an honest price depends on your walls, your floors, your stair geometry, and your plumbing. A quote given sight-unseen would either be inflated to be safe or corrected upward later. We'd rather look first and tell you the real number once.
Yes. The visit, the assessment, and the written itemized plan cost nothing, and the plan is yours to keep either way.
Only if we find something we couldn't see — old framing, hidden plumbing, water damage behind a tub surround. When that happens we stop, show you, and get your written approval on a revised price before continuing.
Standard Medicare generally does not cover home modifications, and coverage under long-term care policies, VA programs, or certain benefit plans varies widely. We're not benefits advisors and won't guess on your behalf, but we provide detailed itemized documentation you or your family can submit to any program you're pursuing.
The work itself
Our core services are stair lifts, grab bar installation, wheelchair and accessibility ramps, vertical platform lifts, and handrails. We also handle accessible showers, tub-to-shower conversions, bathroom accessibility modifications, threshold and entry modifications, doorway widening, and whole-home aging-in-place and safety modifications.
Yes. A grab bar is only as safe as its anchoring. We locate framing and anchor into studs or add proper blocking, and we set height and angle for the specific person using it — not to a generic default. Suction-cup bars are not safety equipment and we won't install them as such.
Less than most people expect. Small safety projects are usually one visit of a few hours. Showers and larger remodels take longer, but we protect floors and finishes, contain dust, and keep the home usable. You'll know the schedule before we start.
That's a large part of the assessment. We look at where mobility may be in one to three years and choose placements, clearances, and blocking so future additions are simple instead of a second remodel.
Often, yes — but written landlord or HOA approval is required first, and some associations restrict exterior changes like ramps or rails. We'll flag those constraints during the assessment.
